Winter Solstice - 21st June 2026
The Solstice is one of the great turning points of the year.
A turning point in nature, in the Earth.
The Earth is at its peak tilt on its axis, away from the Sun, making it the shortest day of the year and the longest night of the year.
The Earth has moved through its cycle, from Summer Solstice to Winter Solstice.
A sacred pause.
A threshold.
A tipping point.
It's a cycle within a cycle.
You are pausing with nature, in the peak of darkness,
to honour a deeper place within
to acknowledge the Earth's cycles
to acknowledge your cycles
and how much has changed.
And so we pause to be in the energy of the Winter Solstice — this tipping point, this threshold — to reflect on your journey through the year so far, through your cycles.
How you have changed
and who you've become because of it.
Every cycle you go through, there is a return to stillness, to Self.
Every out-breath requires an in-breath.
Everything turns back inward to its origin, its centre, and the cycle begins again.
But not from the old point, from the old cycle.
It's a beginning from who you are now, who you have become now.
Reflect on your cycles.
What's alive in your life?
What you have grown through, healed through, moved through.
A moment to acknowledge how much has changed
and who you've become because of it.
This is a day to honour the dark of winter while simultaneously welcoming the return of the light.
A moment to acknowledge how much has changed—and who you've become because of it.
RITUAL
Sit with yourself today at this threshold.
Light a candle - signalling the return of light.
Take 5 minutes to breathe and reflect.
✨ Reflections
What is ready to bloom?
What are you crossing into?
Who am I now and where am I being asked to live more fully?
On a slip of paper write down what you are honouring in your journey through this year so far. What you have grown through? What you are celebrating?
Wrap your paper around a few twigs and burn them in a fire safely.
This a joyful burning.
A celebration.
A sacred pause on this Solstice to honour your journey.
The ancients would light huge bonfires to celebrate and induce the warmth returning.
A log was burned and the flames from this given to each and every person for their own homes.
So in this pause, look back.
Notice who you’ve become.
Then turn gently toward the light that is calling you forward.
Happy Winter Solstice ✨
